Shaskia Cuaspa
Shaskia Cuaspa (b. 1993, Bogotá, Colombia) is an expressionist, figurative artist based in Southern California. She moved to the United States at the age of eight with her mother, whose strength and resilience continue to shape both her life and her work.Drawing on her Latin American heritage, Shaskia’s paintings explore human connection through faces, hands and quiet gestures. Working primarily with acrylic paint and oil pastels, she builds each composition intuitively, allowing colour and form to emerge through layers of emotion and observation. Her figures often appear suspended between stillness and movement — expressions of tenderness, longing and shared humanity.
Her studio, located within her home, allows her artistic and family life to unfold side by side, informing the rhythm and honesty of her practice. This closeness between living and making gives her paintings their grounded, domestic intimacy, where each work becomes both a personal reflection and an open offering.
She continues to develop a distinct visual language rooted in intuition, colour and emotional expression.
