Peckham Cloth

Handmade in London by maker Hannah Cleaton-Roberts, Peckham Cloth creates thoughtfully designed waxed-cloth bread bags to reduce waste in the home.

Made with complete commitment to ethical production, Peckham Cloth uses GOTS certified organic cotton woven on household power looms in Kerala. This conscious choice of organic cotton supports traditional farming practices that enhance soil health through crop rotation and natural fertilisation, fostering biodiversity and farmer security. For bags with printed detail, Hannah uses eco-friendly ink on hand carved wooden printing blocks made in India. Each piece is waxed with natural oils including beeswax, pine resin and organic jojoba oil, made for keeping food fresh without the need for single use. As part of her circular approach, Hannah plants a tree with OneTreePlanted for every item sold, directly nurturing the ethos Peckham Cloth is founded on.

Through this considered approach to production and materials, Peckham Cloth creates pieces that are both beautiful and purposeful, designed for those seeking to bring more sustainable practices into their daily lives.

Peckham Cloth Beeswax Bread Bag - 5 colours
£32.00

Handmade in London by Peckham Cloth, these beeswax bread bags are crafted from sturdy organic cotton and treated with a blend of natural beeswax, pine resin, and organic jojoba oil. Available in a selection of designs, some feature traditional Indian block printing using eco-friendly inks, while others are left unprinted to highlight the material’s natural texture.

Designed to keep bread fresher for longer without softening the crust, the bags are generously sized to accommodate a large sourdough or multiple smaller loaves. Reusable and fully biodegradable, they offer a sustainable alternative to plastic bread storage.

Sustainability & Materials: The organic cotton is woven from GOTS-certified thread on household power looms in Kerala. Unlike conventional cotton, organic farming maintains soil health through crop rotation and natural fertilisation, avoiding synthetic chemicals. This supports biodiversity, reduces water pollution, and allows farmers to save seeds and avoid pesticide exposure. For every product sold, a tree is planted through OneTreePlanted, with reforestation efforts focused on Indonesia.

Care Instructions: Shake out crumbs regularly. To clean, turn the bag inside out and wash gently with cold or lukewarm soapy water. Air dry before refolding. To refresh the beeswax coating, place in an oven preheated to 140°C (280°F) for one minute. Remove, allow to cool, and reshape.

Caution: Beeswax is flammable. Keep away from heat sources, ovens, microwaves, dishwashers, and open flames.
