A hand-built ceramic plate by North Yorkshire-based artist Charlotte Salt, formed in buff stoneware and finished with layered glazes, oxides and wax resist. The surface is built through a process of glaze pouring and painted oxide decoration, producing tonal variation and a distinctive textured finish beneath a glossy black glaze. Charlotte Salt works from her home studio in North Yorkshire and as part of the AHH Studio Collective. Using traditional hand-building techniques including slab construction, coiling and pinching, she creates sculptural forms that retain the visible marks of making. Her work draws on mythology, folklore and narrative, combining expressive mark-making with textured, painterly surfaces.
