A George II architect’s table in mahogany with a rectangular ratcheted top, moulded with a thumbnail edge and carved re-entrant corners. The top is released by a brass button to the reverse, allowing it to be raised and adjusted.
A retractable book rest is housed beneath the top and operated by thumb slides. Each side incorporates a pull-out swivel dish-top candle stand. A drawer with brass handle and escutcheon is fitted to the front, with a retractable inkwell to one side.
The table stands on square chamfered legs terminating in brass castors set within iron brackets.
