Born in London in 1938, Ward studied under Lucie Rie and Hans Coper at Camberwell School of Arts & Crafts. He developed his signature style through hand-building techniques, layering coils of clay to create carefully composed forms.
Moving to rural Wales in 1978, he gained international recognition, exhibiting in major UK and US galleries. His work is held in the Victoria & Albert Museum and esteemed private collections. Ward’s ceramics remain some of the most significant in British studio pottery. He ceased working in 2017 due to health reasons, but his legacy endures through exhibitions and publications.
