A handbuilt terracotta lamp decorated in white slip and sgraffito. The surface depicts figures derived from a block-printed counterpane from Charleston House, including dancing figures, sacred cows, horseback riders, hunting dogs and peacocks arranged within a continuous narrative frieze.
The imagery draws on the visual language of early nineteenth-century Mughal painting, combining decorative pattern with figurative storytelling. The lamp is paired with a pleated cotton shade in plaster pink, handmade in India, which casts a soft, diffused light when illuminated.
The lamp forms part of a wider collection created exclusively for Arte House, which also includes a corresponding vase and charger.
