A hand-built decorative stoneware owl by North Yorkshire-based ceramicist Charlotte Salt. Each owl is individually formed in stoneware clay and finished with layered glazes and oxides, making every piece slightly different in surface and form.
Salt’s practice draws from a wide range of visual references including early European tapestries, the ceramics of Picasso, and literary figures such as William Blake and John Milton. Working with traditional hand-building techniques, she crafts works that foreground materiality, narrative, and symbolism.
Charlotte Salt lives and works in North Yorkshire, producing her pieces from her home studio and as part of the AHH Studio Collective. Having grown up in her parents' pottery studio, she maintains an intuitive connection to clay, with each piece reflecting an emphasis on texture, rhythm, and the visible trace of the maker’s hand.
