A traditional Japanese folding knife by Kanekoma, crafted in Hyogo Prefecture. This model features a 70mm hand-forged Aogami Blue Paper Steel blade and a folded brass handle, designed without a locking mechanism. With use, the brass develops a warm, natural patina.
The addition of chromium to the steel improves edge retention while maintaining ease of sharpening. Compact and lightweight, it is well suited to general tasks such as opening letters or whittling. The blade action is firm by design and can be adjusted with a tap to the rivet.
Made by Kanekoma, a fifth-generation knife maker in Miki, Japan, and the last producer licensed to use the “Higonokami” name. Supplied in a card box; leather sheath sold separately.
