Pezzato Vase by Fulvio Bianconi for Venini, 1979

£7,500.00

Designed by Fulvio Bianconi and produced by Venini & C., this Pezzato vase dates to 1979 and exemplifies the ingenuity of mid-20th century Murano glass. Constructed using Bianconi’s signature technique, cooled strips of coloured glass are cut into tiles and fused into a patterned sheet. This is then rolled onto a clear glass gather and blown into form, creating the distinctive mosaic effect of the Pezzato series.

Bianconi (1915–1996), born in Padua, was a central figure in Italy’s post-war glass revival. After training under Michael Pinto in Murano, he began his long-standing collaboration with Paolo Venini in 1946, producing some of the most recognisable glass designs of the period.
