John Maltby (1936–2020) was a British ceramicist whose work developed from functional studio pottery towards more pictorial and sculptural forms. He trained under Bernard Leach and later worked at David Leach’s workshop in Devon.
A hand-built stoneware dish of softly irregular form on a low foot. The surface is incised and divided into compartments containing stylised trees, a small house and rolling hills, forming a simplified landscape.
