Untitled by Bryan Pearce

£2,500.00

An ink drawing on paper depicting a steamship set against a calm coastal horizon. The composition is rendered in fine, deliberate lines and simplified forms set across a broad field of colour, characteristic of Pearce’s distinctive visual language. The scene is reduced to its essential elements, balancing line, space and colour with measured clarity. Bryan Pearce (1929–2006) was a British artist born in St Ives, Cornwall, known for his highly individual depictions of the town’s harbour, coastline and daily life. Diagnosed with phenylketonuria (PKU), a rare metabolic condition, he began painting as a therapeutic activity in the early 1950s. Pearce studied at the St Ives School of Painting between 1953 and 1957 and remained closely connected to the town’s artistic community. His work is represented in public collections including Tate, Kettle’s Yard and the Arts Council Collection. Origin: British Period/Style: St Ives School Material: Ink on paper Dimensions: 31cm height × 45cm width (unframed); 40.5cm height × 55cm width (framed)
