Peter Lanyon (1918–1964) was a British painter associated with the St Ives group. His work developed an abstract response to landscape, informed by Constructivism and gestural abstraction.
Working in Cornwall, he drew on his experience of gliding to explore shifting spatial viewpoints, translating terrain, atmosphere and movement into layered compositions.
