Wooden Lay Figure, 19th Century

£5,500.00

A finely carved 19th-century pine lay figure with articulated limbs and a well-preserved painted surface. Beautifully modelled throughout, the figure retains carved facial features, individually carved fingers and toes, and an attractive patina developed through years of use.

The articulated ball joints remain in good working order, allowing the figure to be posed as originally intended. Both a practical artist's studio tool and a sculptural object in its own right, it is a fine example of nineteenth-century craftsmanship.
