Arte House is looking for an experienced Part-Time Sales Assistant to join our team in Bath.

We bring together Modern British art, carefully chosen antiques and the work of selected contemporary artists and makers, alongside a small collection of objects for the home.

This role would suit someone with a genuine interest in art, antiques and design, who enjoys working with people and feels comfortable within a creative retail environment.

[THE ROLE]

  • Welcome visitors into the gallery and assist with sales in a warm, relaxed and thoughtful manner.

  • Speak confidently about artworks, antiques and objects within the collection.

  • Follow up with customers by email, sending further information and keeping in touch on enquiries.

  • Help obtain delivery and shipping quotes for customers.

  • Liaise with the London shop team when required, sharing information and helping enquiries and orders run smoothly across both locations.

  • Build a knowledge of our artists, makers and collection.

  • Assist with maintaining the presentation and organisation of the gallery, helping to create a calm, welcoming and visually considered environment.

  • Assist with researching artworks and objects, cataloguing stock and preparing information for the gallery.

  • Support the Store Manager and founders with the day-to-day running of the gallery.

[THE PERSON]

  • Previous gallery or relevant retail experience is essential. 

  • A genuine interest in art, antiques, interiors and collected objects. 

  • Naturally warm and confident with clients, creating a welcoming and relaxed experience. 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Sales experience, with a genuine enthusiasm for helping clients find the right piece. 

  • Organised, proactive and happy turning your hand to different tasks throughout the day. 

  • Strong attention to detail and presentation. 

  • Comfortable working within a small creative team. 

  • Comfortable running the gallery independently when needed, working on your own initiative and taking ownership of tasks.

  • Available to work weekends, bank holidays and throughout key holiday periods.
